What It Takes: At the Gym
Regular workouts for Jill Mills are anything but routine. In fact, it occurs to this writer that Jill never has a "routine" workout.

For Jill, every single workout is a competitve event, even if she is only competing with herself.

Why? Because that's What It Takes.

This series of images captures a "routine" workout with Jill and her husband and training partner, Milo.

The images were created in March of 2002 at Olympic Gym in San Antonio.

Milo chalks Jill's shoulders in preparation for the bar.
The belt goes on before the weight goes up.

In the next photo, you'll see why Jill uses a belt!

Milo spots as Jill bangs out rep after rep in "Ass To Ankles" squats with no suit and no wraps.

That's 365 pounds on her back.

Head-on perspective.
After free squats, Jill finishes with the box squat.
After some deadlifts, Jill holds 435 pounds in a static shrug for 30 seconds as Milo keeps track on a stopwatch.
